pretty shiny sparkly.

hi everyone!

i just wanted to drop a line and give a shout out to ma huzband G.

One year ago today I woke up (sick with a cold and sad after an awful week)  and to a strange teddy bear with glasses dressed in a tuxedo sitting on my dresser.  I was confused and pissed that someone perhaps broke into our apartment and left a bear there~ who does that????

then, as i gathered myself and took a closer look I saw it. Sitting in its´ signature box, on the strange bears´ lap.
my very own Kate Szabone ring.   G then asked me to press the bear´s foot, and out comes a voice-recorded Brazilian accent asking me to marry him.

One year ago today. And, shortly after this day in August 2011 we headed down to City Hall and got the darn thing done. (That´s a whole different day  we will celebrate a year passing!)

So, to my husband: Thanks for buying me the most perfect, beautiful, amazingly-lovely,  pretty shiny sparkly in all the land and for asking me to get hitched. You´re pretty gosh darn great, Mister De Oliveira.

That being said : I wish you all a happy Tuesday night, and another shout out to my bestie Melissa who had an amazing birthday yesterday. you my girl. xo

Rock and Roll De Oliveiras

Hi everyone,

Just a quick note to share that our wedding was featured on this mega cool blog I read quite often, Rock and Roll Bride! Kat Williams (writer) is really badass and features some seriously cool weddings on her blog. And, now us! ( Because we are super awesome, obvi)

Check out the full post here, and thank you to Kat for showing us off!

this day.

this week was a really hard one for me, and i don´t normally get too gushy mushy around these parts, but today my best friend of over 15 years is getting married.

and i´m not there.

i am so beyond happy that she is marrying the love of her life, and her (other) best friend, but sad as shit that i am not there to be a part of it all. I may have gone into detail before as to why i´m not there before, but it just couldn´t work for G and I  for several reasons. and I´m hating that.

so, i am off from work today, and it turns out to be a good thing, because the waterworks just won´t stop coming. (I started to tear up just writing a facebook status about them for heaven´s sake)

so, today my heart is in Las Vegas with these two nerds, not here in Toronto, doing laundry and crying. I know it will be the most amazing day ever for the both of them, and all i can be is overjoyed! (as an inside joke: any of you who know the Bride it is an ongoing joke between us that we never get emotional around eachother and try our best not to ever cry to one another…so it makes me laugh to think that M is probably not going to tear up on her own wedding and i´m sobbing like a baby!)

On another note, another bestie  of mine is having a baby today, like right now!!!!!!!! i got the happiest text message of ¨today´s the day¨ upon my wakeup and am so terrified excited for Christine, Fabien, and big brother Mateo to have another ¨petite garcon¨ to add to the Melanson family. Good luck, C!!!! I love you!!!

Also, another bestie of mine got a ring on her fingah Sunday, and I could not be happier for her and her beau. (No reveal yet~ i will wait until she goes public before i blog it to random readers!) I can´t waaaaait to help plan this wedding, that´s for sure!!! Love you guys, too~ you know who you are!

so, with all of these great things happening this week, i know it´s gonna be a good one. it has to be!

Happy Tuesday to you all, i hope wherever in the world you might be you´re enjoying as amazing of a day as we are here in T Dot!

All in all, (as you can see) we had an epic day. not to mention that later on we accidentally crashed another wedding and gave cupcakes to strangers, and blew bubbles and lit sparklers on the streets of toronto.

we want to send a special thanks to charlie and helen for all their amazing work, and for making our wedding photos rock .

(because i truly believe we are rockstars).

Or, at least we look like we are in our pictures.

hope you enjoyed the peeks, my wee little lovelies.

it’s official

so, ladies and germs…… i am officially now a member of the  de Oliveira family! AND, no longer get to tick the “single” box on tax forms.

we had our small lil’ wedding Saturday, November 12th  at 5:30, at Toronto City Hall. it was only a 20 minute non-religious ceremony, and it was exactly what we had wanted. Small and intimate, and to the point. (i think gabe might have cried, but don’t tell anyone).

we headed to a Brazilian restaurant afterward~ Caju, and ate and drank like kings and queens. our food was absolutely perfect, and it was really cool to get to eat the traditional brazilian foods with all of our guests. a few of them were from brazil, and we could tell they were so happy to have real food like when they were back home.

it was lovely to have friends and family with us and here to celebrate. we both wanted gabriel’s family to be able to be here, but sometimes you can’t have it all.

we did skype with them on the morning of the wedding, so they could see us all dressed up. they are so adorable~ his parents had his grandparents, his brothers and aunts, uncles and cousins over to be able to see us and talk with him. it was hard not to get emotional seeing them through a screen, and knowing their oldest son was getting married in another country… they are so proud, and so excited for us. and, speaking of which, my parents made the trek from ‘Scotia and stayed with us for 5 days. it was great having them, and my sister here in toronto. i was so so so happy to see them~ it had almost been a year since we were last together.

my friend charley, and christine and fabien also made the trip from scotia, and it was so so so amazing to be able to see them. i am so glad everyone was able to make it.also, my bestie mel stood by me as my witness, and brought my lil’ new baby niece Olivia who is barely 2 months old! i love them so much. gabe’s friend (and mine), and our last housemate hein stood as gabe’s witness. he is an awesome guy and a great friend to us both. yay for awesome friends! my dear friend nadia poured blood, sweat and tears into a badass car sign for us, that we have hanging over our mantle and will keep forever! it looked so sweet tied with ribbons to the ol`cruiser as we pulled away…. le sigh!

my hairdresser, sarah is the bomb dot com, and made me a sweet pinup-ish style ‘do.. and also helped with my mom and sisters hair. it looked purrrfect! you rock, misses!

Our flowers, a gift from my awesome bosses, were amazhe~ to be expected! (for all of you who didn’t hear already, pink twig got the BEST flower shop in toronto voted by the public in NOW magazine)… i still have my bridal bouquet in our apartment and it looks like heaven.i can’t wait to see the shots the photographers took of the fleurs !!!! EEEK!

so, to conclude~ we took a lot of photos, and when we get them i will be posting previews :)

thanks to all of our friends and family here and away for being a part of, and helping us make our wedding kick ass.

AND also, thanks to everyone for the well wishes and congrats~ we had so much fun and are so happy to be Mr. and Mrs.

happy evening!
